Perfect Homemade La Galbi – the Korean BBQ Ribs

Galbi, which stands for “ribs” in Korean, is a popular Korean dish served in many places.

LA galbi is a style of barbecued beef short ribs cut thinly about ¼ inch thick across the bones.

Ingredients:

3.5 lbs. of LA style beef short ribs / mushrooms / 1 bottle of BBQ sauce / dash of sesame oil

Preparation:

  1. Trim excess fat from the short ribs and rinse in cold water.

  2. Soak the ribs in cold water for 10-20 minutes to remove the blood.

  3. Mix the meant with BBQ sauce, add sesame oil for that distinct nutty taste, marinate it for over 30 minutes. Add onions, mushrooms to taste.

  4. Grill, pan fry, or barbecue the ribs – takes only about 5 minutes!

Tips For Better Enjoyment:

  • When both sides are cooked, put them on a serving plate. Cut the meat off the bone with scissors – discard bones.

  • Wrap meat in a lettuce and a perilla leaf. Add soybean dipping sauce, garlic, and a piece of green chili pepper to the pocket, wrap it up, and it is ready to be served. You can serve this with rice and kimchi, too!
