Since the 19th century, picnics have become a tradition in Europe as soon as the sun makes its appearance. But preparing a picnic isn’t as easy as preparing a lunch (if done right!) as it is both a lunch and an afternoon tea – it has to be shareable and still be tasty even if it is cold.
Those are some dishes that will be loved by everyone and are super easy to make without compromising on taste:
1. Pasta salad:
Pasta salad is a fresh dish that provides every little nutrient essential for staying healthy. It is easy and quick to make. You can also use the leftovers of pasta from the day before.
Onigiri comes from Japan where it is a very popular snack. It is made from white sticky rice wrapped in nori (seaweed) and filled traditionally with pickled ume or salted salmon etc. It is fun to make – both for children and adults alike!
3. Potato salad:
Potato salad is easily made for a big group and requires little time and inexpensive ingredients. It comes in various flavours but the main type includes boiled potatoes, mayonnaise, raw onions, pickles, hard-boiled eggs and fresh herbs. A dish always welcome at picnics!
Quiche comes from French cuisine where it is popular as a party food since it can be eaten hot or cold and in large quantity. It is basically a pie with a pastry crust and filled with salted custard and meat, seafood, vegetables and/or cheese. Yummy!
